Check out the Neptunes Beat Drop over at MetalLungies.com. I, along with a few other people including Skillz, picked our top 5 favorite Neptunes songs and talk about them. Here’s my abridged list:
1. T.I. “What’s Yo Name” off I’m Serious
2. Jadakiss “Knock Yourself Out” off Kiss The Game Goodbye
3. Ludacris “Southern Hospitality” off Back For the First Time
4. Beenie Man “Girls Dem Sugar” f. Mya off Art & Life
5. Clipse “Grindin” off Lord Willin
Runner Ups:
Nelly “Hot In Herre” solely because of the Chuck Brown sample
Noreaga “Superthug” because that’s when I became aware of The Neptunes
Fabolous “Holla Back Youngn” strictly because of the two-way alert in the song
Mystikal “Danger” and “Shake Ya Ass” because nobody else could get away with those songs

Great write ups, Dan. I completely forgot about Jada. I just downloaded it and going to put it in my set for Sat night. Looks like great minds think alike with Southern Hospitality.

You MUST check the hidden outro after “Little Suzie” on Kelis’ “Wanderland.” It’s the number 1 most slept on ‘tunes beat. It sucks that I get excited every time I hear the first kick in “Knock Yourself Out”, but it’s always just used as standard background music for DJ banter on 93.9.
