wonder if the mixtape cover inspired the colorway? a bunch of people are doing black and teal this season. trendsettaaaaaa!
I am using this as a jumping off point for an open letter to Obey.
Dear Shepard Fairey,
I am a fan first and foremost so please don’t take this the wrong way. However, you and your brand Obey are, at this point, probably still “bigger” than Wale. All we ask for is some recognition if we in fact inspired this hoodie’s namesake and colorway. If it’s too late for recognition, a few size runs in the hoodie would be awesome. Maybe even like a limited edition Wale version with the lace logo on it? My contact info is on the site. Hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
Dan

Virgin America is my favorite domestic airline; the prices are great, service is outstanding and amenities galore. Unfortunately they only have service in Vegas, LA, San Diego, Seattle, SF, DC-Dulles and JFK. With that said, Entourage season 5 debuts on on September 7. To celebrate, HBO has set it up so during the month of September, you get to enjoy free episodes of Entourage. In addition, if you book first class travel between NYC (JFK) and Las Vegas on Entourage Air, you get to fly like Vinny Chase with your very own pair of Bose noise-canceling headphones, a glass of signature champagne, Godiva truffles, Kiehl’s Since 1851 Perennial Favorites Travel Set, Altoids and a signature Entourage Air blanket and eye mask. Not too shabby
And don’t forget to tune in on Sunday, September 7th, at 10pm/9c for the Season Premiere of Entourage!
And remember when Wale’s song was on Season 4?
There is a discussion over on Okayplayer about who would be the first rapper to make an Usain Bolt reference as well as who was the first rapper to reference Michael Phelps.
Wale wanted to put it out there that on his 2005 demo track “Spectacular” featuring DC’s finest, Raheem DeVaughn, he shouted out the Olympic champion. “Spectacular” ended up on his 2nd mixtape, PAINT A PICTURE (technically 3rd if you could Prolly Know Me From The Rap)Click HERE to download “Spectacular” f. It’s a veritable State Prop reunion of sorts! Hot off the press!
Wale stopped into Travis Barker’s studio in LA two weeks ago before the X-Games Pre-Party to lay down a verse for Travis’ solo album. Travis then laid down some live drums on a Wale album cut, “G Told Me” produced by Sean C & LV (”Roc Boys”). Here’s a sneak peak thanks to DJ Alizay
Check out levi.com/wale for a remix by DJ Infamous (the producer behind Mr. Carter…also avail after the jump). Also check out the other featured artist Estelle and Nikka Costa, along with a BMX rider named Jamie who is pretty effing good at what he does. (more…)
I saw a shorter clip of Jay performing “Wonderwall” but I didn’t catch “99 Problems” till just now. I love how the band goes into AC/DC “Back In Black” for the 2nd verse. Sounds great. Most people don’t know this but Wale actually played Glastonbury in 2007. He flew there for one day and got his bag confiscated by airport police in Dulles on his way to LDN. Then at the festival, it was torrential rain and mud, and he killed his black spizikes. However, judging by the footage below, you would never know it!
And do people even remember that Wale performed at the VMA’s last year?
And speaking of VMA’s, remember Chris Brown’s performance? Right before Wale?
