Given the fact that the New Kids On The Block are making a comeback this summer, I thought some might find this article about mastermind behind their initial rise to fame, Maurice Starr.

Starr Maker
Meet the man who brought you New Kids on the Block — Maurice Starr talks about commercial success, finding the next hot thing, and managing his artists careers

Four pencil-thin, quasi-pubescent girls shuffle onto the stage of the Strand Theatre in matching outfits: black T-shirts with a pink logo that looks like smeared bubble gum, black Spandex biking shorts, black sneakers. They’ve come to this nearly empty theater in the blue-collar Dorchester section of Boston in late May to audition for a talent show, which explains why they look identical, all the way up to their shoulder-length perms. Three of the girls, wearing metal-frame glasses, line up in a row and the fourth stands in front. A prerecorded music track begins to play, causing a series of metallic beeps like cheap sci-fi sound effects to echo around the Strand. The quartet begins to clap rhythmically and make small side-to-side movements. The girl in front starts to rap. Her recital is wooden. Her words are indecipherable. (more…)

hadn’t heard this joint in a minute…I always like to think what would certain artists from the 90s be if the internuts had been around. Outkast is one of those acts.
First it was Jimmy Spicer “Money (Dolla Dolla Bill Yall)” in 1983
Then it was Bomb The Bass “Megablast” in 1988
Then it was De La Soul “Bitties in the BK Lounge” in 1991
Then it was Mary J. Blige f. Keith Murray “Be Happy Remix” in 1994
Then it was Carl Thomas, produced by Just Blaze, “My First Love” in 2004
then AZ “Doing That” from 2006’s THE FORMAT
and finally Maino “Hi Hater” in 2008
I think this is one of the first music videos directed by Hype Williams
And how about “4 Alarm Blaze” featuring Jigga? When was the last time he rapped last in a song?
Love this video. That’s a Lamborghini SUV (Lamborghini LM002) too.
I bet when Michael was convinced to do this commercial, the person doing the convincing was saying things like “don’t worry, it’s gonna be in Japan only, nobody will ever see it outside of Japan.” Little did that person know that 25 years or so later, I would be posting it on something called elitaste.com using a service called YouTube on the mufucking internet!
I haven’t posted on here in a minute but let’s put Iverson’s rapping skills up against Kobe’s rapping skills
I think Iverson wins.
And some other rapping basketball highlights
