0 Comments Gatorade Tiger

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 31 Mar 2008 , in the Announcements category

Tiger Wood is the first athlete to have his own Gatorade despite the fact they sponsored Michael Jordan for so long. This kinda reminds me of when Slimer got his own Hi-C drink, Ecto Cooler

Ecto Cooler was a product tie-in with the movie Ghostbusters. Hi-C struck a deal in 1984 to promote the movie by developing a drink. Expected to last only as long as the movie, the drink was successful beyond expectations and continued to be produced for the better part of two decades. The Ecto Cooler box featured the Ghostbusters character Slimer, as did the commercials. Slimer left the box sometime around 1997, but Minute Maid did not discontinue the product until 2001, at which point it was renamed Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen. Slimer was replaced on the packaging by a similar-looking blob of lips. Except for the flavor, the only other unchanged aspect of the product is that it is still being noted as ecto cool on many store receipts. In 2006, Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen was renamed Crazy Citrus Cooler. In 2007, Crazy Citrus Cooler was discontinued. I will always remember the Ecto Cooler because my mom never let me drink Hi-C.

0 Comments Top Gear: Rolly Royce Phantom

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the , in the Announcements category

The British show Top Gear is pretty amazing. They take some of the coolest cares in the world (from the Audi S4 to the BMW M6) and just pound the shit outta them in ridiculous locations. For a while, I’ve been thinking about how cool it would be to have a car chase in a movie involving a Phantom. Well, this video is the closest thing to that. Check it out.

CMYK x DJ Limelight x Dope Couture

This is the full version of a track off of the upcoming CMYK x DJ
Limelight x Dope Couture mixtape set to release early this summer.
Dope Couture, CMYK, and DJ Limelight represent Indianapolis.

And for those who don’t know the reference, CMYK (short for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black), and often referred to as process color or four color) is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, also used to describe the printing process itself. Though it varies by print house, press operator, press manufacturer and press run, ink is typically applied in the order of the acronym.

The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking certain colors on the typically white background (that is, absorbing particular wavelengths of light). Such a model is called subtractive because inks “subtract” brightness from white.

In additive color models such as RGB, white is the “additive” combination of all primary colored lights, while black is the absence of light. In the CMYK model, it is just the opposite: white is the natural color of the paper or other background, while black results from a full combination of colored inks. To save money on ink, and to produce deeper black tones, unsaturated and dark colors are produced by substituting black ink for the combination of cyan, magenta and yellow.

2 Comments Do Wale and Timbaland look alike?

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the , in the Announcements category

So I was driving down Beverly Drive in LA with Wale a few weeks ago when I noticed a huge billboard on the side of a building featuring Timbaland wearing a t-shirt with a graphic that looked JUST like Wale. I slammed on the brakes, put it in reverse and pulled over.

it looks exactly like this

look at them side by side

notice uneven shape of the goatee (more hair at bottom right, weird angle on top left)
notice uneven glasses

thoughts?

i wanted to post on youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com but I guess they don’t exist anymore

1 Comments Nike Wildedge Sneaker Freaker

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 30 Mar 2008 , in the Announcements category

Esaie over at Nike sent us a pair of these however, we got some samples with some white splatter on the black. I think the production version will be solid black like the pic above. More pics of the samples after the jump.

From Sneaker Freaker
One of the most interesting and unexpected drops of the year comes from the Nike ACG (All Condition Gear) stable, with their highly technical trail-blazer, the Wildedge GTX.

There’s been a few versions of this shoe floating around in 2007 but none that have quite hit the spot until this bio-hazard arrived in yellow and black. The chief beef has been that the swoosh on previous Wildedge models looked really crummy as an emboidery, but this GTX model puts it right with the Nike logo screen-printed onto the trademark Gore-tex and XCR (Extended Comfort Range) upper. The use of the mysterious waterproof XCR material means the shoe also has serious performance credentials – it’s a light-weight barrier against any wet treatment, so you can be confident the Wildedge will hold up against any bush battering put its way.

And with 0.44 sticky rubber used in the sole, it will also grip tighter than a wounded squirrel, which makes it perfect for both the urban adventurer and those deep in the rocky wilderness. And if comfort is a factor when dropping coin, the Wildedge is also worth every penny, with a full length phylon-encased airbag insole unit. The sheer versatility of the ACG design and the awesome colourway makes this shoe THE MUST HAVE SNEAKER OF THE YEAR.

It is now confirmed that this model will go into production so watch this space and we’ll remind you all when we get the release dates.
