We will be shooting a video to “Nike Boots” next week in DC around Howard Homecoming directed by Chris Robinson. Get sick.
So back in June of 2007 Wale met with Jay while he was still at Def Jam. On the way out of the meeting, MIA’s “Boyz” video came on TV and Jay jokingly said to Wale, “Man I should test you with that beat” as they were walking onto the elevator. Wale had been touring Europe with Ronson for about 2 months at this point and had hung out with MIA so he was already savvy. He went and recorded to it the next day. That song ended up becoming The Bmore Club Slam which Scottie B produced (featured on Mixtape About Nothing). Well, with the recent success of MIA’s “Paper Planes” thanks to the Pineapple Express trailer, Interscope is re-releasing her album with “Boyz” as a single…again. Interscope asked Wale to do a remix and I guess Jay-Z and Akon did ones too. Well now that Jay’s is out we thought, hey, let’s put this out with the verse Wale recorded 3 weeks ago and a brand new verse he recorded today. So below you can find the newest version, the 2007 version and the Bmore version. Enjoy.
Lyrical highlights include:
“I’m comfy as crocs, ain’t talkin no Izod gear”
“I’m so far ahead, you nothing to them till you on Perez”
“Shit, didn’t I do this a year ago?”

This game dropped for PS3 today. Supposed to be dope and Wale’s got both “Nike Boots” and “Uptown Roamers” on there. He is also a draftable player in the game. Go out and get it!
I’m sure you most of you have seen this movie, but I know there’s at least one of you who hasn’t. WATCH THIS MOVIE. One of my favorite movies of all time. I’m gonna start posting trailers/clips from some of my favorite movies. Please share your most entertaining films in the Forum. I wanna see what people are gonna say.

Went and saw David Byrne in concert on Friday night. Wow! Hadn’t seen him in a few years (last time was at the Hollywood Bowl with Arcade Fire) and it was awesome. Met him and got a picture (see below). He’s rocking a white Casio G-Shock which you can’t see in the picture. I also met Dr. Romanelli at the show. He and I are getting together tomorrow. Sickkkkk.

Apparently they have a documentary and live CD coming out November 24th. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Through a series of serendipitous events unrelated to me, Kelly and Johnny Cupcakes met a couple of weeks ago. We then had dinner, Kelly agreed to participate in the latest JC shoot and might be joining the JC team in some capacity. Johnny Cupcakes is a good guy to know right now as he was just voted America’s top young entrepreneur by BusinessWeek magazine. Although Kelly is in the medical field, there is a creative side of him that is begging to flex its muscle and so I have brought him on as the official Elitaste sports correspondent. Look for Kelly’s first piece this week. Meanwhile, check out his awesome t-shirt.
This video and song are fire.

My man Chris Robinson who you might know as the director behind ATL and numerous of the hottest music videos ever made (including that new Usher “Trading Places” joint) is launching an internet series called “Lucky” on 10/09/08 (that’s a week from today) on SoVeryFresh.com with the first episode starring one of the hottest girls ever, Lauren London. I’ve seen three Lucky episodes that he did in conjunction with the Nike Windrunner short films and it’s really funny. Peep the trailer. Check out the site. You may remember it from last year when they premiered the Skillz Wrap Up video. Tell a friend to tell a friend. He is a fellow elitaste
This is mad old but Zach hit me with it again today. So funny. “I think we’re dead; time is going by very slow”
