1 Comments Notorious B.I.G. “Sky’s The Limit” video

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the , in the Announcements category

Directed by Spike Jonze who I wrote about on here a few months ago.
I was reminded of this song while watching the MAN ON WIRE trailer, specifically Philippe Petit’s closing quote. “Sky’s The Limite” contains one of my favorite lyrics of all time:
“Stay far from timid, only make moves when your heart’s in it, and live the phrase ‘Sky’s The Limit’”

I saw this amazing documentary tonight called MAN ON WIRE about Philippe Petit’s 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center. The movie is beautiful, breathtaking and emotional; I can’t really explain it. Check out the trailer and hopefully you get an idea of what you’re in for. Also, not sure how the commercial for the skateboard accessory landed at the end of the trailer but it’s kinda funny.
“Life should be lived on the edge, see everyday as a true challenge and then you live your life on the tightrope.” -Philippe Petit

0 Comments Virgin America becomes Entourage Air for season 5 debut

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 23 Aug 2008 , in the Announcements category

Virgin America is my favorite domestic airline; the prices are great, service is outstanding and amenities galore. Unfortunately they only have service in Vegas, LA, San Diego, Seattle, SF, DC-Dulles and JFK. With that said, Entourage season 5 debuts on on September 7. To celebrate, HBO has set it up so during the month of September, you get to enjoy free episodes of Entourage. In addition, if you book first class travel between NYC (JFK) and Las Vegas on Entourage Air, you get to fly like Vinny Chase with your very own pair of Bose noise-canceling headphones, a glass of signature champagne, Godiva truffles, Kiehl’s Since 1851 Perennial Favorites Travel Set, Altoids and a signature Entourage Air blanket and eye mask. Not too shabby

And don’t forget to tune in on Sunday, September 7th, at 10pm/9c for the Season Premiere of Entourage!

And remember when Wale’s song was on Season 4?

0 Comments T.I. f. Jay-Z, Kanye, Wayne and MIA “Swagger Like Us”

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the , in the Announcements category

“Swagger Like Us (SLU)”. Song is a little long in my opinion and the sample gets a little annoying. Also, I realized T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” is pretty much the same song as Lollipop in terms of melodies and sounds. Also I heard this song “You Got Me” by a group called One Block Radius today and I realized it was a total bite of The Roots “You Got Me” (the same name isn’t really coincidental). Not mad at the song though; chorus is fire, some of the verses are iffy.

Props to Wil May for the heads up on SLU!

2 Comments Got tickets?

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 16 Aug 2008 , in the Announcements category

This next one is prolly one of the best concerts I ever went to…Roger Troutman aka Zapp in 1997. He was murdered two years later.

Oh man…Prince Musicology Tour…saw him four times, twice in Boston and twice in ATL. This ticket is from when I sat first row. Wow.

And I remember this UCLA game against OSU. This was my first time seeing Brent Barry play and man, was he something in college. I got the back of the ticket autographed by the great John Wooden too.

And Lakers v Bulls from 1997? Jordan had 27 points this game, Pippen had 22. Lakers won 106-90. Kobe played 13 minutes. My how times have changed

I was going through an old box of mine and found a bunch of old tickets I had saved. Man does this bring back memories. Got some corresponding clips after the jump (more…)

1 Comments Kanye’s oversized Louis Vuitton Damier Azure Backpack

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 12 Aug 2008 , in the Announcements category

I saw this in person in Ye’s dressing room last week after the final GITD Tour stop at Foxwoods Casino and I did a triple take. The bag is truly amazing. I was told by an LV saleswoman today that you can order custom pieces from LV, they just take a year and start at $3,000. Hey, if you got it flaunt it right?

Most of us can’t but if you wanna rock that Damier Azure print without breaking the bank, spring for the keychain ($165) or the belt ($385). I know some of yall spend in that range for kicks but I’d pass on a pair of Jordan IV retros (the countdown pack ones pale in comparison to the ones from 1999) and spring for the belt. You can wear it regularly without worrying about it getting dirty, scuffed or wrinkled and there’s little is doesn’t go with.
