1 Comments Wale kills it at the Red Bull Experiment on the Santa Monica Pier

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 12 Jul 2008 , in the Announcements category

Let Friday July 11th, 2008 (and the days following) go down in history as one of our most ridiculous days ever. We traveled 11 hour round trip to spend 12 hours in Los Angeles.
6:30AM: Wale picked up in SoHo and a few hundred miles away, I was picked up in Boston
8:30AM: We both boarded Jet Blue flights headed to Long Beach, CA; I was leaving from Logan, Wale from JFK
11:30AM: Land at Long Beach
12PM: Get stuck in traffic on the way to LA
1:45PM: Lunch at Cafe Midi on La Brea
Rest
6PM: Dinner with Interscope peeps at Mr. Chow’s
8PM: Arrive at Santa Monica Pier to a few thousand people waiting on Ronnie Renner to set the world record for highest motorcyle jump (see video below)
Redbull Experience at Santa Monica Pier

8:30PM: Wale takes the stage as the sun is setting on Santa Monica Beach and runs through his entire show repetoire:
Apache
Rising Up
Good Girls (Oohwee Remix)
Back In The Go Go
WALEDANCE
Uptown Roamers
Breakdown
Ice Cream Girl
Boyz
Dig Dug
Encore: 1 Thing About A Player
9:45PM: Head to hotel for check-in to use showers and charge phones
10PM: Pickup at hotel to head to LAX
11:30PM: Red eye from LAX to JFK
7:50AM: Land at JFK
8:15AM: Car to NYC
11AM: Photoshoot
Then we got a show tonight in DC, SOB’s tomorrow night in NYC (with an appearance on Hot97 before), then off to the UK Monday for a week.
Anyone who thinks this is easy…it’s not. But we’re loving every minute of it. This is what we signed up for right?

1 Comments David Byrne’s Playing The Building exhibit in NYC until August

Article written by the brilliant The Elitaste on the 17 Jun 2008 , in the Announcements category

Click here to read an interview with David about the installation

It’s an interactive organ hooked up to numerous parts of this huge building in NYC. Each key on the organ “plays” a different part of the building (pips, air shafts, etc), creating a giant instrument. I’m going to NYC this week and will definitely be checking this out.

This is old but so funny. KG is a true ELITASTE! Going to Game 2 on Saturday and even though I grew up and live in LA, my family is Boston all the way so I’m going green.

He doesn’t have a high school diploma, he has lived in at least a dozen cities and he creates songs on the piano without ever having had a lesson.

A. Ryan Leslie ‘98 defines “Renaissance man” in the music industry, and he does it without any formal music training. He just has a deep passion for the music he creates.

His demo tape says it all: “written, arranged, produced, performed and engineered by A. Ryan Leslie.” (more…)
